Teaching Philosophy

Joyful Foundation

Music should ultimately bring joy — not just to the listener, but to the performer as well. Ashley believes that music goes beyond words, creating moments of shared emotion and reflection. Her teaching centres on helping students build a deep and personal connection with music, no matter their background, learning pace, or goals. With patience as the foundation of her approach, she encourages persistence, emotional openness, and curiosity in each lesson.

Rather than focusing solely on technical precision, Ashley emphasizes musical expression and personal growth. As Ludwig van Beethoven once said, “To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.” This belief shapes her philosophy: mistakes are simply part of the learning process; they do not signify failure. Genuine engagement with the music is what allows a pianist to thrive.

Expression over Perfection

A Lifelong Journey

Ashley’s goal is to create a supportive and inspiring environment where students feel empowered to explore, express, and evolve. Whether they are learning for personal fulfillment or preparing for performance, she hopes each student will carry their love of music with them long after the lesson ends — enriching their creative lives with every note they play.
